Climate Box Textbook

The central part of the Climate Box Toolkit is an illustrated textbook that covers the science of climate change, its impacts, and best practices on carbon footprint reduction and adaptation to the inevitable effects of climate change. It also includes guidelines for teachers on how to effectively integrate these resources into educational curricula.

Climate Box Textbook is divided into four sections:

Introduces the fundamentals of climate, including different climate types and zones, the history of climate changes over various time scales—from millions of years ago to the present day — and the causes driving these changes.

Delves into the wide range of impacts that climate change has on the natural world and human societies. It explores how shifts in weather patterns, changes to ecosystems, and challenges to agriculture, water resources, coastal and mountain regions, the Arctic, cities, and human health are all interconnected with the changing climate. Additionally, it addresses the critical question of how we can adapt to these new challenges and continue to grow sustainably in this evolving environment.

Focuses on the role of energy in our daily lives, comparing fossil fuels with renewable sources, and examining their respective benefits and drawbacks. This section also covers energy efficiency, green transportation, sustainable construction, and practical steps we can take today to reduce our carbon footprint. Additionally, it highlights the importance of global cooperation in tackling climate change.

Offers general recommendations for teachers on integrating climate change topics into the school curriculum. It includes examples tailored to different subjects and age groups.
